They say that ebook sales are increasing, but do you think ebook readers are also increasing? Or are they always the same people who buy them? Why should a convinced supporter of reading on paper change his mind and start reading digitally? I wanted to think about what could help the spread of ebooks and perhaps convince skeptics to try a different reading experience. An ebook is a book, but it is not I remember the campaign promoted in favor of 4% VAT for ebooks. The message was clear: an ebook is a book, therefore equal rights with paper. Before that campaign, however, it was a common opinion among digital reading enthusiasts to maintain that an ebook is a book. I thought about this and came to the conclusion that it is not true at all: an ebook is not a book at all .
An ebook is something that goes beyond a simple book. If we spread this message, that an ebook is a book, traditional readers will never choose to buy ebooks. And don't tell me they have to be attracted and pushed Special Data just for savings. 1 – Buy 2 and pay for 1 Some publishers have had this great idea: if you buy the paper book, the ebook version is included in the price. If you think that the sale of paper books is favored in this way, you are right, but it is a direct promotion of paper books. I am thinking instead of the indirect one towards the ebook: in that way more ebooks are distributed.
Digital readers will still only purchase the ebook edition, but traditional readers will also have a digital copy of their book available. 2 – A question of price I continue to see expensive ebooks, in some cases the price difference between paperback and ebook is a few euros. I don't know how much a paper book costs a publisher, we can't make a calculation, because it depends on many factors (print run, paper, distribution, printing costs which vary as in every commercial activity), but I believe that with an ebook you can save a lot costs. If I have to buy a paper novel for 18 euros and I see that the ebook costs 14, I buy the paperback without thinking. In some cases the ebook costs exactly half, but we are always talking about prices around 7 or 9 euros.
